MEET matthew

Matthew and I met early one morning and I would have chatted with him all day if I could have.

I was traveling for work and I wandered away from my hotel in the bitter cold to see who might be braving the arctic temps.

Enter Matthew.

When I explained the Kindness Card movement, his mouth and eyes both went wide. “I’ve eard of this online! I wondered if it was actually real or just something staged.”

He was so moved to know that the gift cards he received were from people like you with good hearts around the country that he would’ve considered strangers. Until today.

I showed him pictures of folks I’ve met and shared a few of their inspiring stories. Matthew was genuinely honored to become a part of this family.

I was so impressed with Matthew and his talent with language. He’s a gifted communicator and he articulated the struggle of the transient lifestyle quite simply.

“God’s got this.”

A deeply spiritual man, Matthew opened up about his failures, future, drive and dreams.

Most of it is too personal and sensitive for social media, but he wants you to know that he’s anxious to shatter stereotypes.

He’s not lazy, he’s goal oriented. Matthew starts each day with a handful of things he hopes to accomplish before the sun sets.

And when he doesn’t knock them all out? He forgives himself and tries again the next day.

Because “God’s got this.”

My thanks as always to each and every one of you who continue to support this movement and to impact the lives of people like our new friend.

But I’m mostly grateful for Matthew, and thankful to know that in his life and in mine, “God’s got this.”
