Meet Ray

I want you to truly understand how urgent their hunger often is, and how immediately you help me meet the need.

I met Ray, the owner of these items, recently near an interstate in northern Virginia. He was calm, clear-eyed, and very kind.

And he was also very hungry.

We chatted for a bit and I gave him cards for several meals. 

As you know, I always help Kindness Card recipients understand that I know we cannot solve all their problems, and we surely can’t cure global poverty.

But we can feed a new friend and give some hope that much brighter days are ahead.

When he examined the cards I’d handed him and found we’d given him one for Chick-fil-A, he was ecstatic.

Because there in the distance, high above the interstate, we both spotted the iconic Chick-fil-A sign in the sky.

We soon said goodbye, but when I circled back a few minutes later, he was already gone.

He was just a figure in the distance, walking towards a meal and some hope.

That’s the miracle of this movement. 

You don’t have to wonder how, when, or if the cards are used. Because I often get to watch the story unfold.
