On June 26, 2022, I received a gift that changed my life.
I was speaking at Fairview Church in Stephens City, Virginia when I was handed a simple leather wallet.
Inside were more than $350 in gift cards — restaurants, fast food spots, drug stores, and even gas cards.
The church knew I often stop to help people in need — buying meals, listening to stories, offering rides when appropriate.
They wanted me to be ready in the moment.
Ready to help.
Ready to respond.
Ready to say yes.
I posted about the experience on Facebook, then I gave away those cards over the next few months.
Then the wallet was refilled.
And refilled again.
Supporters began sending funds and asking me to purchase gift cards in their honor. One donor called them “Kindness Cards.”
A movement was born.
WHAT IT IS TODAY
Today, the Kindness Card Movement is an official IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
What started as one church’s thoughtful gesture is now a growing national effort supported by:
• A volunteer Leadership Circle guiding vision and accountability
• Structured, transparent donation systems
• Churches, businesses, and individuals across the country
• A community committed to restoring dignity
The heart hasn’t changed. But the impact has grown.
WHAT WE ACTUALLY DO
Yes, we distribute prepaid gift cards to people experiencing hardship.
But the card isn’t the point.
It’s conversation.
Eye contact.
Listening.
The reminder that someone still sees them.
Many recipients aren’t just struggling financially. They’re struggling with loneliness, invisibility, and a fading sense of worth.
The card creates a bridge.
It opens a door to connection.
It restores dignity.
WHT IT MATTERS
In a culture that scrolls past suffering, we slow down.
We GIVE intentionally.
We GATHER stories.
We GO where kindness is needed most.
Every card carries the same message:
“This isn’t from me. It’s from someone who believes in you.”
The Kindness Card Movement is not about charity from a distance. It’s about human connection up close.
One conversation can change a day.
One day can change a trajectory.
One card at a time.
OUR LEADERSHIP CIRCLE
As the Kindness Card Movement has grown, so has our responsibility to steward it well.
Our Leadership Circle provides guidance, accountability, and strategic support to ensure this movement remains sustainable, transparent, and mission-focused.
This team includes trusted community leaders, nonprofit professionals, business owners, and longtime advocates of kindness who share a common belief:
Small, intentional acts — when organized and consistent — can create measurable impact.
Members of the Leadership Circle make a generous tax-deductible donation and help oversee:
• Vision and long-term growth
• Partnership development
• Community engagement
While I continue to serve as founder and on-the-ground storyteller, the Leadership Circle ensures this movement is bigger than one person.

Because of generous donors like you, we are able to step into real moments with real people — offering help and hope when it matters most.
